I have used one like that and it works, wind can be a problem.
I have also used a firebox stove. Take a look at fireboxstove.com
They are $$$ but well-made and pack down for limited space. You can use different types of fuel.

I was thinking of a wind screen also light weight and fold up to nothing. But I do want a fire box as well to test out in time.
